Christmas Wishlist

All I want for Christmas is...
Here are a few ideas of Christmas gifts that would be well loved in our home.  We are continually trying to decrease the sheer amount of stuff in our lives, but would love to try out some new experiences, so the ideas are heavy on places and light on things.  Even a discount to one of the mentioned classes would be really cool.

Fiona
  • Preschool Classes at Best Beginnings LLC - a part time preschool that fits with our educational philosophy.
  • First Class Gymnastics They have actual classes, or just open gym times, and I think gift certificates are available for both.
  • Horse Riding lessons - there's a place near us, but I don't think they have a website.  I'll find the ph# and post it.
  • Music Together Chesapeake is a great activity that both kids love and can do together!
  • Swim Lessons or gift certificates for open swim at Kids First Swim School  (this would be our first choice if they have gift certificates available) or SPY Aquatics or Big Vanilla
  • Any other activity you are interested in doing with them!
  • Bike Riding Helmet
Elijah
  • Music Together Chesapeake - we've done a demo class with them and had tons of fun.  Both kids enjoy it and would love this gift!
  • KIDZ gift certificate.  This indoor playground is my sanity in the winter and on rainy days.  They've been closed since the snow last year and are rebuilding.  They should be reopening any time now and we can't wait to go!
  • Yearly Pass to our county parks.  Kinder Farm Park and Quiet Waters are two of our favorites.  A yearly pass is $40 and gives the kids access to playgrounds, farming and 4-H activities, ice skating in the winter, and concerts in the summer.
  • Any sort of puzzle toy that requires figuring out how to put things together and take them apart, or uses magnets, just preferably nothing he can eat :)
  • balls - specifically a football, pack of ping pong balls and paddles, baseball, bat and glove
  • Bike riding helmet
Becky
  • My WorldVision catalog just came in!  I love this organization because they have more of a teach-a-man-to-fish rather than a give-a-man-fish mentality.  The gifts of livestock and tools help people begin to support themselves, and I would be blessed to know that a family is enjoying that ability as your gift to me!
  • SEEDS, especially heirloom seeds of any kind (veggies, flowers, perennials, annuals - love them all!) or a gift certificate for fruit trees or berry bushes.
  • The Sheer Ecstasy of Being a Lunatic Farmer by Joel Salatin
  • Local Breads by Daniel Leader
  • The Grassfed Gourmet Cookbook by Shannon Hayes - I've heard good things about this one from the farmers who sell grassfed meat to us.
  • Fruit Roll Up trays for making fruit leather in my dehydrator--yum!
  • A quilting class at Cottonseed Glory
  • I'd love a subscription to The Stockman Grass Farmer (a farming journal).
Dan
  • A leather belt that can be latched onto new buckles and has no allergenic parts (I think it's nickel that causes problems, and most alloys have at least some nickel in them.)
  • Fruit trees or berry bushes (in the form of a gift certificate) or seeds (he's really excited about next year's food crop.)
  • Beekeeping!  He's excited about having bees when we move, so any beekeeping supplies (suit or jacket size XL, helmet, veil, leather gloves, large smoker, smoker fuel, hive tool, books, catalog and gift certificate) would be really fun for him.
  • Two junior chairs (antique stain) from Ikea that match our dining set.  (And yes, Dan did actually request these--they're one of those luxuries that we probably won't buy on our own but would love to have.)
  • He loves Mitch Hedburg (comedian) and has enjoyed listening to some books on itunes recently.
