Happy Birthday Fiona!

Inquisitive about the world around her, generous with gifts, kisses and food (sometimes all at the same time) and very independent in her capabilities... Fiona is two years old today!

She is the person who introduced me to motherhood, who has changed my perception of birth, and my knowledge of both who God is and who I am. She has become a mirror for me to view myself and the drive for me to become a better self. Lately she is teaching me about forgiveness, grace, and the ability to let go of a grudge. Oh, and sharing :) With the birth of her brother, it seems we are both learning about how not to be an only child.

Fiona loves to have adventures. She's always up for going to the park, the playground or the beach. But, she also frequently asks to go to the zoo, to fly in a plane, swim with a boat or meet a penguin. Her favorite animals are elephants, and her favorite elephant is Asha. In fact, many of her stuffed animals are also named Asha. She loves to read grown up books about animals and her favorite way to clean up is to be a baby animal and use her animal paws or trunk or tail. She loves to go hunting in the back yard for gibbons, frogs, rabbits and squirrels.

Fiona is an adorable mother to her baby dolls, Asha and Shaqueeta, and she loves to make her brother laugh. Sometimes she wants to be a baby, have her diaper changed and be swaddled in a great big blanket, but most of the time she wants to do the diaper changing and swaddling. She also pretends to give birth and helps her stuffed animals go potty. She talks to Elijah the way we talk to her, and frequently can be found describing things to him and teaching him about her world.

She is thoughtful and observant; she takes time to daydream, and would swing quietly for hours if you let her. Her Daddy is her favorite person (she will tell you this without hesitation), and they are a lot alike. Her favorite food is blueberries, and her favorite treat is a chocolate chip. And she's waking up, so I'm off to wish her a happy birthday!
